From High School Standout to Chivas: Giovanny Valencia Signs His First Professional Contract
By Longshots_007
For most high school seniors, the upcoming season is about chasing a CIF championship and creating one final chapter with their teammates. For Giovanny Valencia, however, that chapter took an unexpected—and remarkable—turn.

Instead of preparing for what would have been his senior season with the Montclair High School Boys Soccer Program, Valencia is preparing for life as a professional soccer player after signing his first professional contract with Club Deportivo Guadalajara (Chivas), one of the most prestigious clubs in Mexican soccer.

Under the leadership of longtime head coach Jeff Joines, Montclair High School has established itself as one of Southern California’s premier high school soccer programs. Valencia was expected to be one of the team’s Captain this season, but his rapid development opened the door to an opportunity that few players receive at such a young age.

Away from high school soccer, Valencia also sharpened his game with Ocelot Academy, competing with the club’s UPSL Premier side against experienced adult competition. That environment helped accelerate his growth, allowing him to showcase the technical ability, maturity, and confidence needed to attract professional attention.

A versatile attacking player, Valencia is capable of playing across multiple offensive positions. Whether operating as a winger, attacking midfielder, or forward, he brings creativity, pace, intelligent movement, and the ability to impact games in a variety of ways.

His signing is not only a personal achievement but also a testament to the developmental pathways created by both Montclair High School and Ocelot Academy.
Ocelot Academy, in particular, continues to build a reputation for providing players with opportunities to train, compete, and earn trials with professional clubs. Valencia’s move to Chivas is another example of the academy’s commitment to helping young talent reach the next level, reinforcing that its development model is producing real opportunities for aspiring professionals.

For the Montclair Boys Soccer program, Valencia’s success adds another proud moment to a tradition of developing elite players who move on to collegiate and professional careers.

What was expected to be a senior season has instead become the beginning of a professional career—an inspiring reminder that hard work, preparation, and the right environment can turn dreams into reality.
