International friendly match.

Carson, California
Cruz Azul earned a 2–1 victory over LA Galaxy in a competitive friendly during the FIFA international date window, using a strong first-half performance to establish control before holding off a second-half push from the Galaxy.

Cruz Azul found the back of the net twice before halftime, capitalizing on its opportunities and taking a 2–0 lead into the break. The Mexican side looked sharp throughout the opening 45 minutes, controlling key moments and creating the more dangerous chances.

The Galaxy responded with greater urgency after halftime, and the introduction of Joseph Paintsil helped provide an added spark to the attack. Paintsil eventually found the back of the net, cutting Cruz Azul’s advantage to 2–1 and giving LA Galaxy renewed momentum.

Despite the Galaxy’s improved second-half performance, Cruz Azul remained composed and managed the final stages of the match to secure the victory.

Both clubs used the FIFA date as an opportunity to rotate their squads, evaluate players and give valuable minutes to members of their respective rosters. While LA Galaxy showed resilience after the break, Cruz Azul was the stronger side on the night, particularly in the first half when it made the most of its opportunities.

For both teams, the result was secondary to the larger purpose of the match: gaining competitive minutes, testing different combinations and maintaining rhythm as they continue their respective seasons.
